With 156,000 tourist arrivals during the Tet holiday between Feb. 8-14, Ha Giang recorded an 81.6% increase year-on-year.

Some tourist attractions such as Quan Ba Heaven Gate, Tham Ma slope, Lung Cu flagpole, Ma Pi Leng Pass were always overrun with holiday crowds.

The northern highlands city Sa Pa, famous for its year-round cool climate, is always the popular destination in the north during national holidays.

This year, four-to-five-star hotels were fully booked while other motels and homestays reported an occupancy rate of more than 70%.

The total number of visitors to Sa Pa was estimated to be about 112,300, an increase of about 4% compared to last year.

Quang Ninh, home to UNESCO-recognized Ha Long Bay, welcomed more than 803,000 visitors during Tet, an increase of 56% over the same period in 2023.

Some destinations such as Ha Long, Mong Cai and Yen Tu, home to Buddhist pagoda complexes, were packed with pilgrims during Tet.

About 125,800 visitors flocked to Hai Phong during Tet, an increase of 46% compared to last year.

Ninh Binh continued to be one of the hottest destinations in the north with more than 590,000 visitors, an increase of 50% compared to 2023.

On the fourth day of Tet alone, or Feb. 13, Ninh Binh welcomed more than 200,000 arrivals, including over 35,000 international visitors. The most popular destinations were Trang An, Tam Coc – Bich Dong, ThungNham, Mua Cave (pictured), and Bai Dinh Pagoda.

According to Da Nang’s Department of Tourism, the city welcomed about 402,000 visitors during the holiday, up 37% year-on-year.

Solo travelers accounted for 60-70%, staying at 4–5-star hotels in coastal areas.

The total number of visitors in Quang Nam, mainly in Hoi An, was estimated to reach 305,000, an increase of 35%, of which international visitors accounted for nearly one-third, an increase of 42% year-on-year.

Occupancy rates reached 60-65%.

The south-central province of BinhThuan, home to Mui Ne, welcomed 205,000 visitors, up 28% year-on-year.

International visitors increased six-fold, signaling positive signs of tourism recovery after the island suffered a crisis last year with falling tourist numbers due to expensive airfares and tourist scams.
